Replacing aging
and deteriorating cooling towers provides many
opportunities for owners to realize operational savings in their
chilled water plants, with the use of waterside economizer techniques
and variable speed pumping. Improvements in tower configuration also
contribute to savings in water treatment costs.
The pictured
towers were installed to replace original 35-year-old
towers in a 300,000 square foot mixed use office building. CPS
Engineering designed the system, keeping in mind the operational needs
of the building. A helicopter set the towers in place, and the entire
project was completed without an interruption in cooling to the
tenants.
